This class is mandated by law or called upon by necessity to assess, plan for, and initiate mitigation of incidents involving hazardous materials. Content covers the extent and nature of today's hazardous materials problem, effects of weather, topography, and environmental conditions on the behavior of hazardous materials and the containment efforts these conditions require. Defensive tactics to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading, and prevent exposures without trying to stop the release. Meets and exceeds the requirements of CFR 29 1910.120 and CCR Title 8. This course meets National Wildfire Coordinating Group and State Fire Marshal CFSTES class.
