This course provides out-of-hospital training, at the most basic, entry level scope of practice, in prehospital emergency medical care. Emergency Medical Responders (EMR) are typically first to respond to the scene of medical emergencies in order to provide initial Basic Life Support (BLS) care to patients in the workplace, and or in rural environments until an ambulance arrives to take over patient care. This course will award successfully completed students with a job skills certificate in EMR and meets the requirements of the California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 1.5, as well as the National EMS Education Standards.
