CES 6118

Applied Finite Elements

The course focuses on applying the finite element method to types of problems encountered in various fields of engineering. In the course, underlying theories are presented, enough hand calculations are done to ensure an understanding of the methods, and then students solve problems using the ANSYS finite element program. The course is ideally suited for engineers wanting an understanding of the finite element method as applied to their jobs, graduate students wishing to apply the finite element method to their research problems, and students wanting a preparation for the Departments computational mechanics course sequence.
