Information Technology and Politics

What is the impact of information technology on politics? This course will examine how the Internet in general, social media, digital news and other information technologies fit into an already developed understanding of society and politics. This means that we will explore how new information technologies may challenge or support current theories in political science and communications. This exploration will involve looking at the impact of digital technology on some basic political processes such as news consumption and information gathering, bureaucratic functions, voting, public opinion, and campaigning among other things
