Basic Statistical Methods for Bioinformatics

This course provides an introduction to some core topics in bioinformatics. Topics will include-pairwise and multiple sequence alignment algorithms; gene expression profiling using microarrays; introduction to next generation sequencing; analyzing RNA-Seq data and phylogenetics. Students are expected to be familiar with some elementary statistics and probability concepts
