Community Organization and Assessment

Students in this course apply the knowledge, skills, and methods for conducting community health assessments to identify factors that affect the health of a population and utilize the assessment process as a tool for community organizing. This course reviews the goals of population health and the role of community in facilitating health improvement. It also introduces students to the theory and practice of community assessment in public health. Students will gain a practical understanding of what is involved in the assessment process, the time and resources necessary to undertake an assessment, and sufficient integration of the results into planning and commissioning of local services
