PAS 315

Theatre of the African World - AH, D2

This course is a cross-cultural examination of theatre and performance modes of select cultural and ethnic groups within Africa and the African Diaspora. The material will focus on performance and dramatic scripts by artists from West and South Africa, East Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States. We will investigate the distinctions in the manifestations of "theatre," "drama," and "performance" in Africa and the African Diaspora by means of lectures, play readings, written responses, in-depth discussions, video screenings, student projects, and presentations.
