This course examines the development of African civilizations and societies across the African continent from early man up until 1800. Special emphasis will be on the establishment of precolonial states and kingdoms, examinations of African lifestyles and traditions, the role of religion and trade throughout African history, and the impact of trans-African slavery on the African continent
