ECON 421

History of Economic Thought

An exploration of the theory and method of economic analysis and the emergence of economic thought. Covering ancient times to the present, study centers on mercantilism, classicism, marginalism, neoclassicism, and contemporary thought. Attention is given to the context of the framework of ideas that surrounded economists' theoretical contributions. Alternative approaches, such as Austrian economics and historicism are also examined
