Educational Ethnography: Studying Learning in Family and Community

This course is designed for persons interested in studying the phenomenon of learning in family and community contexts. The course blends foundational readings in the learning sciences and the ethnography of education with participant-observation fieldwork. The fundamentals of ethics regarding studies involving human persons, building relationships with study participants, becoming an observant participant, writing field notes, and co-authoring meaning with study participants will be covered.
