Every other year. The Finite Element Method (FEM) is introduced as a generic tool for the approximation of partial differential equations that model engineering and physics problems of interest. Elliptic, hyperbolic, and parabolic equations are solved with FEM. Note: This course assumes that students have the equivalent of graduate-level coursework in numerical analysis (e.g. MATH 5660).
