Geotechnical Engineering I

Soil formation, phase diagram, soil constituents and behavior, description of soils, classification, clay minerals, compaction, soil improvement, capillarity, shrinkage, swell, collapsible soil, frost action, flow through porous media, and consolidation. Lab experiments, including specific gravity, grain size analysis, liquid and plastic limits, and consolidation, are to be conducted in concert with the lectures
