Race & Ethnicity in Performance I

This course investigates performance literature and traditions of the Americas, particularly of the United States. Students will research, study, rehearse, and perform the work of playwrights, poets, and solo performance artists and learn how to investigate and create identities for themselves and their audiences. Students may also write, compose, and/or develop original work as appropriate to topics covered regard- ing traditional and contemporary performance, as well as participate in public performances. Specific readings and topics may adapt to the interests and needs of the current semester.

Hours: 36 hours LEC; 36 hours LAB
