ART 384

Metal Design: Emphasis In Casting

This course covers historical and contemporary approaches to centrif- ugal casting, wax patterns, and the aesthetic aspects of metal casting for small scale sculpture and jewelry. Basic methods and techniques for wax working, kiln burnout, centrifugal casting, and metal finish- ing will be emphasized. Students are required to purchase supplies needed for the course at a cost of between $100-150. A field trip to an art gallery, museum, or artist’s studio will be required.
