Community Dental Health Education

Fundamentals of teaching and learning theories. Development of teaching units and lesson plans for various public groups and/or organizations, practical experience in public schools and community groups with experience in providing dental health education to the public. This course is designed to increase student knowledge of concepts of community dentistry and dental epidemiology that is used in population based health care. Students are allowed to critically evaluate biostatistics, scientific literature, dental care delivery and mechanisms for financing dental care. Three hrs. lecture per week and 8 hours of field experience during the semester. One hour of lecture per week and approximately 25-30 hours of field work
