PED 571

Exercise Programs for Special Populations

Study of the principles of exercise testing and prescription for special populations including clinical (i.e. cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, orthopedic, neuromuscular, & cognitive disease; cancer, HIV) and lifespan (i.e. youth, elderly, women) populations. Field experience observing exercise programs for a variety of special populations in the community is required. This course is designed to help prepare students for various clinical certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
