LIN 490

Internship in Linguistics

Applicants must submit the filled out and signed Supervisor Agreement Form to the course instructor during the semester preceding the semester in which the internship would take place. Interns work in local organizations and businesses whose focus is linguistically relevant, where work experience, typically unpaid, is combined with linguistic research and analysis and application of knowledge from the major. A student taking the course for 1 CH will work 30 hours for the semester, for 2 CH, they will work 60 hours, and for 3 CH, they will work 90 hours per semester. Work expectations for each intern are contracted with instructor and the organization's on-site supervisor. Monthly progress reports and other assignments as stated in the syllabus are required. The course can be taken 2 times but only 3 credits can be applied toward the major requirements.
