Health Care Law and Ethics

Introduction to health care law. Considers the roles and rights of the major forces in the health care industry: patients, hospital administration, governing boards, health care practitioners, and state and federal governments. Topics include issues of government regulation, corporate organization and financing, medical staff privileges, death and dying, consent to treatment, legal aspects of nursing services, hospital liability, informed consent, collection and disclosure of patient information, legal considerations in financial management and health planning, labor law, and other special, complex issues of health care law.
