Readings in French

An introduction to the study of literary texts that serves as a bridge between the 200-level (intermediate) and 300-level (advanced) courses. Students develop reading skills and strategies to prepare them for upper-division French literature and civilization courses. A number of genres are studied, and students are introduced to basic critical tools of literary analysis including explication de texte. Course may be organized around a theme.
