EDM 415

Mathematics in Middle School

Provides opportunities for the prospective mathematics teacher to gain experience in preparing, teaching and assessing problem-centered standards-based lessons. Focuses on materials and strategies for teaching and assessing mathematics at the middle-childhood level. Also considered are student characteristics, teaching and learning styles, issues of equity and diversity, constructivist theories of learning and the history of mathematics. Extensive use of technology is integrated throughout.
