Elementary Functions and Calculus

Mathematics 169 and MATH 170 together serve as an alternative to MATH 171 for students who have completed four years of high school mathematics but who are not ready for calculus. Placement in Mathematics 169 or MATH 171 is determined by a calculus readiness test that is administered to incoming first-year students during orientation. Topics include functions and their graphs, polynomial functions, trigonometric functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, limits, derivatives
