Introduction to the Digital Humanities

This course teaches the use of digital tools and methods for study, research, and presentation within humanities. Students will learn and apply technical skills including how to develop and query databases, use computers for textual and numerical analyses, map locations from novels and historical periods, and present projects in print and digital formats. Students will also explore social media, including fake news, and what it means to be a good digital citizen. Learning is hands-on and interactive, and builds a foundation for future computer-based collaborative research and career opportunities. This course is open to students in all majors and may be of particular interest to those in the humanities and social sciences
