Explorations in World History

This course introduces students to world history through focused study of a particular topic or theme, chosen by the instructor of each section. Among possible topics for the course include: Slavery in World History, the History of Food, Health & Medicine in History, Science & Technology in History, and Empires Ancient & Modern. The theme of each section will span different world regions and time periods. Students will view the topic in specific cultural, political, and social contexts, in both Western and non-Western world regions. Students will also examine development of the topic over centuries, allowing them to understand the historical processes of change and continuity
