GEO 243

The United States and the World

This course is a geographic survey of major world regions with a strong emphasis on the United States. Students analyze geographic factors that shaped the settlement of the United States; interpret cultural, social, environmental, economic, and geopolitical processes in world region; better understand the strong economic relationships between the 1st World and the rest of the world; and appreciate culturally distant vantage points posed by regions outside the US. The course is designed to address the Michigan Social Studies Standards for Elementary Teachers. Note: Core requirements may not be met by this course
