ACCT 535

Corporate Financial Research, Analysis, and Valuation

This course is about the research and analysis of financial information with a primary focus on firms financial statements and the use of that information in making decisions regarding investing in, lending to, acquiring, merging with, doing business with, or competing with the firm. Forecasting and firm valuation methods are developed and applied to a variety of firms. These methods connect economic events to financial statements and aid in developing a framework for analyzing a wide variety of financial reporting decisions. Some of the valuation methods developed are used in determining fair value per financial accounting standards. The course seeks to understand the interactions among financial reporting, the use of accounting and non-accounting information, financial forecasting and valuation, and the workings of the capital markets
