This course provides an overview of the foundations of special education. State and federal legislation that regulates special education services provide a framework for exploring the development of appropriate educational programming for learners with exceptionalitys. Characteristics of learners with exceptionalitys and related evidence-based practices are discussed. Course content includes an examination of universal design for learning, assistive technology, transition planning, and collaboration in the context of special education
