Sheltered English Immersion

Todays classrooms include ever-changing student populations with diverse languages and cultures in which the fund of knowledge to draw from in our teaching. This course is designed to address the national and state requirements that all teachers emphasize academic language and provide means for sheltering content in classrooms. Emphasis will be on the principles, theories and processes of second language acquisition, culturally responsive practice, and research-based strategies of instruction. English-language acquisition, the value of technology, and the use of assessments will be dressed throughout the course
