The European Reformations

Students will study the lives, doctrines, and practices of the major Protestant Reformers in their political, social, economic, and intellectual context. Special attention will be paid to the mainstream (magisterial) Reformation, focusing on Lutheranism, the various Reformed churches, and the English Reformation. The course will also consider Roman Catholic and Anabaptist response.
