Violence and Grace in the Novel

The course explores the correspondence between grace and violence (i.e. suffering) in redeeming (or attempted redemption) or refining the human soul as observed in a range of novels, short stories, movies, and nonfiction works. This course fulfills the General Studies literature elective requirement.
