History of Biblical Preaching

Students will survey the major trends and key individuals from the apostolic era to the present that have influenced the church’s practice of proclaiming God’s Word. Students will read and analyze selected sermons and messages drawn from various ages and reflecting a variety of traditions. Special emphasis will be given to the evangelical tradition of biblical preaching from the Reformation to the present. Students will also explore multiple genres used to communicate God’s Word.
