Athenian Drama in Context

An introduction to ancient Greek drama (tragedy and comedy). Will examine a variety of plays from each of Athens' major dramatists. Particular consideration will be given to the historical and intellectual contexts in which the plays were performed and the reception of Greek drama in modern film and performance.
