Clinical Practicum I

SWK 501, SWK 502, SWK 503, SWK 504, SWK 505, SWK 506, SWK 507, SWK 508, SWK 509, and SWK 510; or permission of the program; or advanced standing.This is the first of two clinical practicums that students in the clinical social work specialization complete. Students complete 250 hours of field placement in their assigned setting, under the supervision of their field instructors in this semester. The clinical practicum provides students with the opportunity to develop competencies in clinical social work practice, building upon generalist practice skills. Students will integrate and apply the knowledge, values, and skills developed in their course work to develop clinical social work competencies for engaging assessing, and intervening with individuals, families, and groups in clinical practice settings. The clinical field practicum is systematically designed, supervised, and coordinated. Students are evaluated on criteria by which they demonstrate the clinical social work competencies.
