Clinical Genetics/Genomics for Advanced Practice Nurses

This course explores techniques that utilize clinical genetics and genomics data to inform evidence-based healthcare delivery. Select genetic diseases, risk factors and mechanisms of inheritance will be analyzed in the context of providing advanced nursing care to individuals. Genomic data will be applied to clinical problems of identifying and treating disorders that have genetic features in the population. Legal, ethical and moral implications of screening, treatment, counseling, and referral for genetic disorders will be discussed.
