Facilitating Behavior Change

Provides the student with a broad theoretical base for the analysis of healthy/unhealthy behaviors. The research and theoretical literature will be reviewed in areas such as motivational, socio-cultural, ecological and environmental factors associated with health behaviors, patient activation, communication and behavior change strategies found in health promotion and health/wellness coaching. Students will learn the theoretical framework that will develop and enhance their ability to assist and motivate individuals in the preparation, adoption and maintenance of behavior changes which promote health and wellness.
