The Documentary

The historical and aesthetic development of the documentary film will be traced from its beginnings in the Lumiere brothers' Actualits through the work of such major figures as Robert Flaherty, John Grierson and Leni Riefenstahl and important movements like Cinema Verite and Direct Cinema to contemporary practitioners, Errol Morris, Michael Moore, and Victoria Bruce and Karin Hayes.
