Students are introduced to the fundamental principles of organic evolution. These are applied to survey and interpret critical anatomical and behavioral adaptations that characterize the earliest primates to modern humans. Factors involved in the origin of broad spectrum intelligence, tool use, and culture are considered relative to patterns of modern human biological and cultural variation.
